Tar ::

Tar can be used on you rims to help improve the braking performance.  All you have to do is rub some on your rims, making sure it is even and that you don't apply to much!!  The more you put on the more powerful your brakes are.  But too much can be very dangerous and you'll find that your brake pads will get stuck on the rim (it hurt!).  It also creates a loud annoying squeaking noise.  Normally I just slightly spread it over just the one side of my rim and leave the other.

(NOTE: it doesn't work on disc-brakes! lol)

Zip-Ties ::

Zip-Ties are good as they can handle lots of little multipurpose jobs...

For example, tying your rear mech down to the frame as this silences the banging noise of your mech bouncing off your frame! Make sure it is in line with the chain first, so its doesn't change gear...

Or also tying your magura or disk brake cables down to your frame if specific mounts aren't supplied.

Angle Grinding ::

Sorry, no image at present.

Angle grinding your rims is another alternative to getting powerful brakes.  The angle grinder roughens up the surface of your rim, enabling your brake pads to grip better.  Work yourself around the rim with the angle grinder lightly and evenly grinding the rim surface, when you have gone round you may have to or want to go around the rim again if not much has really happened.

(NOTE: Be careful not to over grind your rims!)
