Hubs ::

Chris King

The legendary Chris King Discotech hub set weighs only 282g for the rear and 150g front. 19.5mm axle, bombproof and patented Ring Drive engagement pawls, these things rock.  Most of the pro trials riders use these hubs for there quality built, and smooth control features.  They are a bit pricey, but good quality is one of the key elements needed in hubs, due to them being one of the main parts of the bike that take greatest amounts of stress, though the freehub makes your bike sound like the rear tyre is rubbing on the frame!  Prices = front £189 , rear £289.

Shimano XTR

The front Hub features an oversized 11mm aluminum axle, while the whole thing weighs just 190g (including QR), the rear sports an 11mm titanium axle and titanium freewheel body, which in total weighs 371g, (including QR) . Doubled sealed to protect against the elements. Includes skewers with a nifty laser-cut XTR logo.  These hubs are built to last.  Look after the free-hub and they will go a long way.  You will also find that you may be able to pick some up quite cheap as the price has dropped, probably due to other rivals such as Chris King and Hope.  Price front £59.99, rear £99.99.

Hope XC (Sport)

The XC Hubs have one piece aluminum hub shells with sealed cartridge bearings throughout. The cassette body is available in either steel or titanium and it uses a three pawl ratchet mechanism. The front and rear are available to accept quick release.  Available in the International Standard 6 bolt disc fitting.  The XC hub is a real common hub in trials and offers a great amount of strength. This is a good hub for the money.  Price: front £35, rear £79.
